Yukon is the smallest and westernmost Canadian territory with its own territorially-funded health plan. The Yukon Health Care Insurance plan provides for medically-required hospital and medical services, and some dental-surgical procedures. The cost of providing these services is met through general revenues. Yukon Health Care Insurance coverage becomes effective three months after you establish residency in Yukon. The Whitehorse General Hospital is the largest hospital in the region, and there is access to an eletronic health library. The parliamentary and public libraries provide some measure of services for those citizens who need health information.
