This workshop provides context for using social media for online communication in health. A number of library services including reference and liaison are now possible using these tools. Here are our goals for this workshop on social software:

  1. Introduction - 'what is web 2.0? how do you recognize it? what are its principle features?'
  2. List social media such as blogs and wikis
  3. Discuss principles/features of web 2.0 & medicine 2.0
  4. Examine major medical blogs (see blogs) and wikis
