Tania Alekson graduated from UBC's School of Library, Archival and Information Studies (SLAIS) in June 2010. She is currently the Borrower Services Librarian at Capilano University. Previously, she was Learning Commons Coordinator at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, where she conducted numerous experiements using social media in higher education and for staff communication.

As an MLIS student, Tania worked with Xuemei Li (supervised by Allan Cho) on using web 2.0 tools in higher education (environmental scan, development and delivery of learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students). My social media focus has been on what benefits students can gain from these new technologies and acting as an evangelist to help them integrate web 2.0 into their academic lives.
