Nikki Dettmar, MSIS, MS, AHIP, is the Curriculum Design Librarian at the University of Washington Health Sciences Library providing instruction, instructional design expertise, and library liaison services to the UW School of Medicine. She works closely with the UW School of Medicine faculty and staff in areas such as curriculum renewal and active learning instruction initiatives, and in close collaboration with library colleagues and stakeholders from other health sciences schools for effective library resources and curriculum integration opportunities. Dettmar previously worked for two National Library of Medicine contracts at the UW Health Sciences Library from 2008-2015. Dettmar graduated in 2007 from the University of North Texas (UNT) College of Information with an MSIS and earned a second Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Learning Technologies in 2015. Her research interests include effective online learning, social media, health and information literacy, medical education and patient engagement.

Dettmar is the lead coordinator/moderator of the Thursday night Twitter #medlibs chat at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern time for 1 hour (topics are announced beforehand) and archived here She also blogs at Eagle Dawg blog and is an active Twitter user and is the first US medical librarian to serve as an advisor on the HLWIKI International Advisory.
