Louise Bourbonnais (retired) obtained a Master in Library Science degree from McGill University, and went on to oversee the Geriatrics and Gerontology Library at the Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM) for nineteen years. She is a member of the board of directors of Baluchon Alzheimer since it was founded in 1998. Since her retirement, Bourbonnais has become involved in community organizations, including the AQPA.
Bourbonnais was the recipient of the Margaret Ridley Charlton Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2002.
