Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) degree in history and art with a concentration in Islamic art and architecture from the University of Victoria. He collaborates with Dean Giustini on conducting research regarding point-of-care tools, social media usage in health and medicine (and academia), and the provision of health information services. As a student librarian, he works at the UBC Biomedical Branch Library and has gained experience working at the Science and Engineering Division of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC Library. Kevin currently collaborates with the pediatric palliative network PedPalNET at the BC Children's and Women's Centres in order to help develop a social media strategy for providing relevant health information to patients' families. Kevin is also working with the British Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons Library as a workshop consultant to improve their Finding Medical Evidence training workshops. Kevin is interested in health libraries and in engaging and helping users become aware of health information resources through teaching, advocacy and discovering new ways librarians can engage health professionals, students and faculty with social media. Kevin plans to complete his dual degrees in the summer of 2012 after which he will transfer his skills to the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda Maryland. In May 2012, he won one of the four coveted spots in NLM's Associate Fellowship program. As he moves into the profession, Kevin plans to pursue his interests and goals in teaching, research, user-focused librarianship and social media. Contact
