"...JCHLA/JABSC is an open access, peer reviewed journal that is published triannually. It is hosted by the University of Alberta Learning Services. The purpose of the journal is to provide a forum for librarians and other information professionals to share research and information related to health sciences librarianship..."

The Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association / Journal de l'Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (Current issue) is the official journal of the CHLA/ABSC (Canada). It is published in both English and French but primarily English as of 2015. Its full name is the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association / Journal de l'Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada. As an open-access professional journal for the medical library community in Canada, it is the one publishing venue for the research of medical and health librarians in Canada. The former name of the Journal was Bibliotheca Medica Canadiana (BMC) (1976-2003) when it was changed to its current name. Both titles are indexed in the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). The Canadian Health Libraries Association/Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (CHLA/ABSC) is a national association for hospital and health librarians in Canada, and represents the views of Canadian health librarians to library associations, governments, health communities and fellow librarians.

In 2010, the JCHLA/JABSC went to a tri-annual publication schedule. Contact the Editors for additional information. In 2013, the editors published an aboriginal health special issue in 2013-2014.
