- Influenza A(H7N9) virus emerges in China, April 2013 (WHO Statement on influenza A(H7N9) virus)
- H1N1 (Human Swine Flu) in Canada is an entry of links and information pertaining to the spread of H1N1 virus in Canada
- In 2013, reports of the virus spreading in humans have circulated, and some reports include deaths
- In 2009, H1N1 swept Mexico but soon spread to southern California and eventually up into Canada within weeks. Due to the genetic make-up of H1N1, a few months of lead-in time were required before a vaccine could be produced and then properly distributed. Confronting H1N1 included almost every nation on earth and a vast array of scientists and public health officials at the WHO and elsewhere. The moderate severity of the virus saved most countries from a public health catastrophe.
- In 2013, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) says H1N1 is now low risk ...though isolated cases will occur
-
- Since 2009, 500+ confirmed deaths have been recorded in Canada (see above chart) re: H1N1 infection
