Facts:
- As of early 2010, there were 425 confirmed deaths of H1N1 (Human Swine) Flu in Canada. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) says that the second wave of pandemic H1N1 2009 has tapered off though isolated cases continue to occur.
- See PHAC's weekly Summary of FluWatch Findings for the week ending ... (in French) reports for the latest information.
- For reliable H1N1 information, please consult your local health librarian.
- See this keyword search in PubMed "swine flu" or "H1N1" to browse for biomedical articles.
- The earliest cases of H1N1 Flu Virus (Human Swine Flu) were detected in Mexico in April 2009. By late April, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control had declared a public health emergency and warned that a possible new international pandemic may be emerging. With the World Health Organization (WHO) and its international partners - including Health Canada and PHAC - steps were taken to contain the virus and to inform the public what they could do to protect themselves.
