Discovery Exercise

• Read through the following exercise; it is not an assignment but a way to begin using social media):
  • create a new class account in Bloglines, Friendfeed or iGoogle to track your own RSS feeds
  • create an account in a social bookmarking site such as delicious or Connotea for web documents and websites
  • create a profile in Twitter, LinkedIn or other social media tool you feel like trying out for the first time
• subscribe to your classmates' Twitter feed or add librarians to your network on Twitter
• How do other information professionals use these tools? (talk to some librarians or archivists - or quote from literature)
• How might information professionals make use of these tools to accomplish work?
• Think about blogging your reactions to these questions
