"...[this book] brings together widely scattered information on health measurement techniques; a practical reference guide by Ian McDowell ... it helps readers choose, administer, and score available questionnaires & rating scales. Reviewing 50 measurement instruments, it describes their purpose and conceptual basis, reliability and validity, and shows a copy of the scale." see free PDF

Introduction

This search filter is not validated or complete in any way. Consider that it is a starting point for a broader discussion of how to filter literature within databases using a set of Canadian terms, concepts and place names.

Canadian filter for PubMed

  • ontario[ad] OR ontario OR quebec[ad] OR quebec OR newfoundland[ad] OR newfoundland OR labrador[ad] OR labrador OR new brunswick[ad] OR new brunswick OR nova Scotia[ad] OR nova scotia OR prince Edward Island[ad] OR prince edward island OR PEI[ad] OR PEI OR manitoba[ad] OR manitoba OR saskatchewan[ad] OR saskatchewan OR alberta[ad] OR alberta OR british columbia[ad] OR british columbia OR nunavut[ad] OR nunavut OR yukon[ad] OR yukon OR north west territories[ad] OR North West Territories OR canada[ad] OR canada OR canadian[ad] OR canadian*
  • (thanks to Lynn Dunikowski)
  • consider adding French equivalents e.g., "ile du prince edouard" and "colombie britanique" OR "colombie britannique"

Tip

  • These were created to be exhaustive, so non-Canadian info will get retrieved, but that’s just a fact of life when one needs to be exhaustive.
  • It may seem redundant to have to search .af. and the other fields but I found that .af. doesn’t really cover ‘all fields’, e.g. if I search canada.in. in one set and then search canada.af. in another set and OR the two sets together, I get a greater number than what’s in the canada.af. set.
