IntroductionSee also Canadian Health Librarians - Leaders, Past and Present and Famous librarians in history Amy Ashmore completed her MLIS at the University of British Columbia's School of Library, Archival, and Information Studies (SLAIS) in 2011. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in English Literature from the University of Victoria. She has worked with Dean Giustini on research related to Canadian academic librarians' use of social media. She works currently as a librarian at the Surrey Public Library, and has worked as a student librarian at Irving K. Barber Learning Centre's Art, Architecture and Planning division. Amy is interested in how libraries can use social media to engage with users on their own terms and in the virtual spaces they are a part of. She and a second SLAIS student are currently working on a Professional Experience project concerning technologies and strategies for communicating with teens at the Vancouver Public Library. Amy hopes to continue working with the public and exploring new ways in which libraries can engage and collaborate with their users.
